Global quality assurance and risk management organisation DNV GL, has awarded their prestigious technology qualification to Seawind’s floating wind solutions – Seawind 6 and Seawind 12. This fundamental qualification is rapidly propelling our new-generation solutions towards final accreditation and commercialisation.

The industry-leading qualification was awarded following an extensive and challenging testing programme. DNV GL’s rigorous testing confirmed the technical assurance, durability and cost-efficiency of the Seawind 6 solution for small island deployment, and the Seawind 12 solution for major deep-sea deployments. As part of the testing programmes, both solutions were also qualified as deployable for all seas and oceans and, uniquely, including cyclone regions.

The globally-recognised DNV GL technology qualification is the most comprehensive and rigorous qualification that exists today for determining the long-term assurance, reliability and safety of new and innovative technology. Comprising more than 50 standardised test methods the DNV GL qualification is Seawind’s penultimate step in achieving official accreditation for the Seawind 6 and Seawind 12 solutions.

Commenting on DNV GL’s award, Seawind’s CEO, Vincent Dewulf stated, “We are very proud of Seawind’s new-generation solutions, and are thrilled that they’ve now achieved industry recognition for their safety, high-performance and efficiency through DNV GL’s technology qualification. This is pivotal moment for Seawind’s growth and credibility, and we’re delighted we can now rapidly move our solutions rapidly towards final accreditation and commercialisation”.
